Areal flood warning issued for Alexandria

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a flood warning for Alexandria after heavy rainfall yesterday afternoon (Friday).

“The National Weather Service has issued an areal Flood Warning for Alexandria,” the NWS said in a text alert. “Avoid small streams and do not drive through water on roadways.”

The flood warning is expected to stay in effect until 7:45 a.m. this morning (Saturday).

Much of the area has been under a flood watch since 3 p.m. this afternoon with forecasts predicting heavy rainfall throughout the evening.

Alexandria Women for Good donated $6,720 to Alexandria’s Community Lodgings from their first donation cycle! They toured one of the learning centers, met some of the staff and kids, and handed over a big check.

Alexandria Women for Good is a newly formed local Grapevine Giving Circle composed of local Alexandria women who make the commitment to give back to the local community regularly and intentionally. Each quarter they raise money to give to local nonprofits making a difference.
