Plans unveiled for parking lot redevelopment in the heart of Old town

Long-awaited plans for the redevelopment of a block of parking on King Street are finally coming forward.

Plans for the redevelopment of 912-920 King Street are scheduled to be presented at the Wednesday, April 6 Board of Architectural Review meeting, the Washington Business Journal first reported.

Developer Galena Capital Partners is proposing a 4-story mixed-use development, which will have three floors of residential development totaling 30-units above street-level retail. the back of the building, facing a public alley, will have “flexible Live/Work units.”

The property was purchased by the developer from the city in 2016.

“At the east property line, the building will be set back 10′ from the existing buildings to provide open space at the street level,” the developer said in an application. “The building is setback at several strategic locations to address street context, increased light into the alley and breakdown the massing. The building mass is broken down at the King Street & Alley frontage with color, and with horizontal layering of brick detailing at each floor level.”
