First Lady Jill Biden announces departure from Alexandria’s Northern Virginia Community College

After 15 years of teaching English at Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA), First Lady Jill Biden announced her retirement from her teaching post.

Jill Biden announced on Monday that she’d finished her final class at the Alexandria school the week before, NBC reported. Jill Biden started teaching at NOVA in 2009 after her husband Joe Biden became vice president. Jill Biden started teaching English in 1976.

A year after being distinguished as one of 15 Girls Leading Change by First Lady Jill Biden, Alexandria’s Zahra Rahimi just returned to the White House.

The 18-year-old Rahimi says that being named to the group motivates her, and that she briefly spoke with the First Lady after the announcement of this year’s cohort.
