Nine-year-old Chaquira and her eight-year-old daughter Princesa are inseparable, and the pair are looking for a new home via the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria.

AWLA took in Chaquira and Princesa with 12 other dogs from the Florida-based True and Faithful Pet Rescue Mission.

If you want to find the bright side of things, a little bit of Church could help. And don’t worry — we’re talking about the eight-year-old tabby that’s up for adoption through the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria.

“Church has an adorable little tongue that’s often sticking out, making every day with Church a #tongueouttuesday,” AWLA spokesperson Gina Hardter told ALXnow in an email. “Her hobbies enjoy lounging in bed, being pet (especially in bed) and watching visitors and friends (from her bed).”

There’s no doubt that Gunner‘s gaze will bring a smile to your face, and the medium-sized terrier is up for adoption with the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria.

“Gunner is an energetic, intelligent young man who loves to show off his tricks for treats and shower his friends in kisses,” said Gina Hardter, a spokesperson for the AWLA, who says he is currently her favorite pet at the shelter. “I’m trying to teach him the command, ‘Give kisses,’ but he loves to kiss so much that he’s already way ahead of me.”

Need a new best friend? The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria says that their number of pet adoptions is up this year.

“It’s a very stressful time and a pet can really be a companion, they can provide support,” Gina Hardter, a spokesperson with the AWLA told ALXnow. “Even though this is a terrible time it’s been a wonderful time to show us just what is important in our lives, and one of those things is the unconditional love that a pet can give.”

Seven-year-old Reno moved to Alexandria from Florida, so the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria’s pet of the week might not know what to expect from cold winters.

The black Labrador retriever mix is currently in a foster home, and all of his adoption fees have been paid by a generous donor, according to AWLA spokesperson Gina Hardter.

Felines Chloe and Emmie are bonded for life, and the dynamic duo are looking for a new family through the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria.

“Four-year-old felines Emmie (orange) and Chloe are ready to double your pleasure and double your fun, because this dynamic duo of bonded kitties are looking for their new family…together,” said AWLA spokesperson Gina Hardter. “While their looks couldn’t be more opposite, their purr-sonalities are pretty similar: both girls are sweet, outgoing and go out of their way to get pets from new people.”

Tank always makes sure to put his toys away after he finishes with playtime, and the three-year-old Pit Bull Terrier is also looking for a new home through the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria.

“Tank’s favorite place to be is in his cozy bed full of blankets and toys,” said AWLA spokeswoman Audrey Alessi. “He’s looking for a best friend who can relate!”
