Monarch Custom Homes, a top custom design-build firm in Northern Virginia, is excited to introduce the Monarch Elite Collection — a new series of homes designed to give homeowners the freedom to personalize while enjoying Monarch’s signature craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Created for those who want a beautiful home without starting entirely from scratch, the Elite Collection offers thoughtfully designed layouts that can be tailored to fit each family’s lifestyle, taste, and priorities. Every design reflects Monarch’s belief that “Not Every Square Foot Is Created Equal™” — ensuring each home feels intentional and functional.

Your muscle mass and strength are what allow you to pick up your grandkids, travel with your spouse, and join a family hike without hesitation. But after age 30, muscle mass naturally declines. Adults lose 4–6 pounds of muscle every decade without strength training. By 40, that’s a Christmas ham’s worth of muscle gone. By 60, it’s a family-sized turkey.

The good news? Muscle loss is not inevitable. Strength training is the solution.

Take your volunteering to the next level this fall! Become an EcoAmbassador! Training is centered on the City of Alexandria Energy and Climate Change Action Plan and Arlington’s Community Energy Plan and related climate strategies. Specific focus areas include: reducing energy use and electrifying the home, shifting to eco-friendly transportation choices, and minimizing waste.

Volunteers ages 16 and up are encouraged to apply. The fee for the program is $110 (free for students), deadline for applications is September 24. Are you a songwriter looking for community, inspiration, and momentum? Song Foundry is a new group for anyone who writes original songs, whether you’re an experienced writer or just getting started. We welcome all backgrounds, genres, and stories. Our goal is to connect songwriters, foster honest feedback, and build confidence through sharing, collaboration, and live performance.

Song Foundry isn’t about cover bands or competition. It’s about craft, process, and supporting one another. At our meetups, you can bring works-in-progress for feedback, share finished songs, or simply listen and connect. We offer mentorship for new writers from experienced writers, creative partnerships, and group outings to open mics or showcases.
