Our Beginning Fencing Classes are the perfect entry point for anyone curious about fencing, whether you are brand new to the sport or simply ready to try something refreshingly different.

In this class, students learn the fundamentals of fencing in a safe, supportive, and energetic environment. You will be introduced to proper footwork, basic bladework, rules of the sport, and fencing etiquette, all while building coordination, confidence, and focus. No experience is required, and all equipment is provided, so you can show up ready to learn and have fun. Our eight session introductory class teaches you everything you need to know to get started. New classes start this January for youth, teens and adults.

Alexandria’s own Rescue Media is seeing fast growth as more businesses, associations, nonprofits, and community programs turn to video to reach their audiences. Located on Duke Street, the company supports the city with a full range of services, including video production, event coverage, webcasting, and access to a fully equipped studio soundstage.

Over the years, Rescue Media has worked with Alexandria organizations on event livestreams, promotional brand videos, and more. Many teams also use the studio for interviews, product showcases, training videos, and green-screen filming, providing a quiet, controlled space to create consistent content throughout the year.

Ribbon Cutting Celebration Set for December 22 at 1 PM Tennis String Theory, the region’s trusted destination for racquet expertise and community-centered tennis services, is celebrating the grand opening of its temporary POP UP location in Alexandria following the sale of its longtime Falls Church location. To mark the transition and welcome the community into the new space, TST will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony on December 22 at 1 PM, held in partnership with the Alexandria Economic Development Partnership.

Conveniently located at 4926 Eisenhower Ave #C, Alexandria, VA, the new POP UP will continue offering professional racquet stringing, gear guidance, and personalized support for players of all ages and levels—ensuring uninterrupted service while the company works to secure its next permanent home. The Falls Church location will officially close on January 1, 2026, with the Seven Corners drop-off location remaining available throughout the transition.

Dr. Phillip Connor, Research Fellow at Princeton University, and long-time Arlington resident has published a new book, “MAKE RIGHT: Breaking Modern Injustices with the Ancient Compassion Code.”

If you’ve never met Phillip, you may have heard of his unusually large family of 7 children. (For years, it was hard to miss their huge brown van called “Tank Eh” around town). Or, you may have seen his research, particularly in the immigration policy space. Phillip worked as a researcher at the Pew Research Center for nearly a decade, followed by five years with FWD.us, an immigration and criminal justice reform organization. His policy work as a demographer has been featured in leading academic journals, top media outlets, and in presentations for Congress and several administrations.
