Alexandria’s Department of Transportation and Environmental Services is kicking off a week of street repaving and maintenance across the city.
Crews will start working on several key areas, including Oronoco Street, Slaters Lane, and parts of East and West Oak Street, starting May 19.
Citywide Street Repaving
- Oronoco Street (from Earl Street to end)
- Slaters Lane (from George Washington Parkway to end)
- East Oak Street (from Little Street to Commonwealth Avenue)
- East Marsteller Street (from East Walnut Street to East Oak Street)
- West Oak Street (from Commonwealth Avenue to Russell Road)
- Sanger Avenue (from North Van Dorn Street to North Beauregard Street)
If you live or work in the affected areas, look for project signs and letters giving you a heads-up. You’ll also see temporary “No Parking” signs pop up before work starts.
Just a heads up—the repaving schedule might shift a bit. Weather, equipment issues, or coordination with other city projects and utility work can cause changes.
There’s also some concrete maintenance work starting on Duke Street from Roth Avenue to Wheeler Avenue on May 19. This is laying the groundwork for future repaving.
Citywide Concrete Maintenance
Concrete maintenance work will begin on Duke Street from Roth Avenue to Wheeler Avenue on Monday, May 19 in preparation for street repaving work. Lane closures and delays can be expected during this work period to ensure work can be completed safely and efficiently. More information will be provided closer to the start of work on Duke Street.
