Sure, you may be able to spell “otorhinolaryngologist” sober, but Potomac Yard bar Bark Social (formerly Barkhaus) is inviting you to try it after a few drinks.

Bark Social Alexandria (529 E. Howell Avenue) is hosting the “ultimate adult spelling bee” tomorrow (Tuesday) from 7-8 p.m.

“Join us at Bark Social Alexandria for a night of friendly competition and brain-teasing fun,” the event listing said. “Test your spelling skills against other adults in a relaxed and social atmosphere. Whether you’re a spelling whiz or just looking for a good time, this event is perfect for anyone who loves words and a good challenge.”

Tickets are $5 for general admission and $10 for contestants.

For those of you who were popular in school and not destined to become local news reporters, the contest site lays out the rules of a spelling bee:

The spelling bee will consist of three rounds: a warm-up round, a themed round, and a final misspelling bee round.

Contestants who misspell a word are eliminated. The final round will determine the overall winner. In case of a tie, a sudden death round with increasingly difficult words will be held.
