SW Development has done it again! You won’t be disappointed in the luxury craftsmanship and materials found throughout this industrial farmhouse-style home boasting just over 4,000 square feet. Durable HardiePlank siding blends seamlessly with the original brick exterior. An inviting front porch with a traditional black metal seam roof offers the perfect spot for afternoon lemonade or morning coffee.

This home is ideally located in a highly sought-after community where neighbors and friends gather on porches and patios! Just around the corner is the well-known Fairlington Centre where you can enjoy dinner and drinks, a quick pizza, and multiple shops, cleaners, banks, and a pharmacy. Down the hill is Shirlington Village offering even more eateries and shops plus movie theaters.

Enter through a grand foyer, which guides you to the living room, home office, powder room and stunning wide staircase with black wrought-iron custom railing. Beyond the staircase, lies the heart of the home where everyone gathers… the kitchen, of course! Attention to detail cannot be ignored when you see the beautiful stone countertops, contemporary hardware, top-of-the-line luxury stainless appliances and ceiling-height Shaker-style cabinets. Stainless steel open shelving adds a delightful bit of whimsy to the traditional, but very sleek, decor. A center island with seating anchors this most important part of the house. It also provides the perfect spot for homework, dining and crafts. SW Development’s signature mudroom certainly can’t be ignored. Complete with individual cubbies, easy-to-use coat hooks, a convenient bench and closet, you will wonder how you ever lived without one. Best of all, the adjoining family room with built-in speakers and a gas-burning fireplace is a great hangout space so the cook won’t miss out on a thing.

The lower level is everything you could hope for and more. A built-in sound system carries throughout the gym and movie/recreation room. Cozy wall-to-wall carpet covers the bedroom and recreation room floor. The gym has luxury vinyl plank flooring, making it the perfect workout room. A full bath makes this space so versatile… overnight guests, live-in nanny or extended guest stays. Of course, there’s plenty of storage for all sports gear and seasonal items.

The top floor is like the icing on the cake, boasting four bedrooms, three full baths and an oh-so-necessary separate laundry room with custom ceramic tile. The main bedroom suite is so perfect with its custom-designed closets and lush bathroom with double vanities, a spa-like shower and marble floor. The three additional bedrooms also offer custom closets, and the bathrooms are stylishly finished.

The backyard has plenty of play space as the large lot is flat and fully usable. Just off the rear porch is a custom-built stone patio with a stone wall and built-in grill. What a perfect spot for summer dining and yard games with neighbors and friends. If a garage is what you want, the contractor would be happy to talk with you and see what can be created. Lastly, but very important, is the convenience of this location for commuting to D.C., Old Town, the Pentagon and Reagan National Airport… all of which are within 5 miles.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
