Adoptable pet of the week: Kira will bring puppy energy to your home

Meet Kira, a young pup who wants to grow and explore the world with a new family.

This 7-month-old pup available at the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria is a playful pup who will chase balls, play fetch and tag along on walks or hikes. Once playtime is over, she doesn’t mind a bit of rest and relaxation.

“Kira loves being petted and will make a great couch buddy when you settle in for the evening to watch your favorite television shows,” an AWLA volunteer told ALXnow.

Kira has a sleek black coat and a face that might melt your heart. At 57 pounds, Kira still has some growing to do. She still shows the wiggly energy of a young dog and has done well living with children and rabbits.

“As she is still very young, Kira is looking for someone who can continue with her training so that she can be the best dog she can be,” the volunteer said.

Interested adopters can contact AWLA and visit Kira during the shelter’s regular adoption hours:

  • Noon to 7 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
  • Noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday
