Adoptable pet of the week: Batman is seeking his own sidekick

Meet Batman, who’s looking for his own Robin.

Don’t expect Batman to fight supervillains or give you a peek inside the Batcave. Instead, he will be a willing companion on a quiet night in watching TV on the couch or an outdoor excursion.

“At six years old, he is at the perfect age to join you on outdoor adventures without the lovable but tiring chaos of puppy energy,” an Animal Welfare League of Alexandria volunteer told ALXnow. “If you are looking for a loyal, loving companion who can be quite affectionate, you may have just found him!”

This 78-pound dog has lived with children of different ages and another large dog, but AWLA recommends he meet other dogs at potential adopters’ homes. He’d also prefer a home without cats and small animals.

“It has been reported that Batman has excellent house manners,” the volunteer said. “He is more into people than toys, so he won’t bring many moving boxes.”

Interested adopters can contact AWLA and visit Batman during the shelter’s regular adoption hours:

  • Noon to 7 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
  • Noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday
