Meet Onyx, who’s proving three legs is enough to still live the fun life of a dog.
This 5-year-old at the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria is affectionately described as a “tripod” since he recently had one rear leg removed.
“He has recovered beautifully and gets around very well, never letting his missing leg slow him down,” an AWLA volunteer told ALXnow. “Onyx can pretty much do anything any other dog can do. He likes going on walks, chasing balls, and spending time with his people.”
After playtime, he enjoys getting all the pets he can receive from people. If you really want to win him over, add belly rubs to the mix.
The AWLA volunteer says Onyx has shown good house manners and is crate trained. He would do best in a home with older children.
“Onyx is ready to settle into a loving home where he can continue to thrive,” the AWLA volunteer said. “He has a sweet, easygoing nature that will win him a cozy place in your heart.”
A donor has covered adoption fees for Onyx.
