Adoptable pet of the week: Pint-sized Layla makes a good lap dog

Meet Layla, a pint-sized pup who will be your loyal companion once she warms up to you.

This 4-year-old dog is timid when meeting new people, but an Animal Welfare League of Alexandria volunteer told ALXnow patience goes a long way with her.

“Little Layla just likes to take in the world on her own timeline,” the volunteer said. “If Layla gets the chance to feel safe in her new environment, she will be in your lap before you know it.”

Layla weighs 14 pounds and has a long black and white coat, one blue eye and one brown eye. She would thrive in a home with no dogs or other furry pets.

“Layla’s future family will find that she is quite the little cuddle bug once she warms up,” the AWLA volunteer said. “If you are a loving person looking for a pint-sized companion, Layla might be the one for you!”

Layla can be visited during the shelter’s regular adoption hours:

  • Noon to 7 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday
Noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday
