Adoptable Pet of the Week: Bugsy, who can make veggies vanish like magic

Meet Bugsy, a guinea pig doubling as an aspiring magician who can make her favorite veggies disappear.

Bugsy is a white and brown guinea pig awaiting her forever family at the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria. She’s ready to dazzle people with her food vanishing talents.

“As an amateur mystic, Bugsy’s predictive powers are still a work in progress; she hasn’t quite mastered the crystal ball, so she frequently misinterprets the rustle of a trash bag or the crinkle of a snack wrapper as a divine sign that a bell pepper is manifesting in the kitchen,” an AWLA volunteer told ALXnow.

Aside from her magic tricks, Bugsy enjoys spending time with her inseparable friend Gumdrop and lingering around hay-filled toilet paper rolls.

Bugsy’s other talent is brightening the day of the people around her.

“She is seeking a piggie-loving human to assist with her daily performances and provide a steady supply of cucumbers and other delicious goodies!” the volunteer said. “If you are looking for a touch of wonder and magic, Bugsy is ready to enchant your heart and make any sadness vanish just like magic!”

Bugsy can be visited during the shelter’s regular adoption hours:

  • Noon to 7 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
  • Noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday
