St. Elmo’s Coffee Pub in Del Ray closing Monday for interior renovations

Regulars at St. Elmo’s Coffee Pub will soon have to get their fix somewhere else — temporarily.

Starting Monday, the coffeehouse at 2300 Mount Vernon Avenue will close for up to 10 days for interior renovations. Owner Larry Ponzi tells ALXnow that the project will give the coffee shop a fresh look.

“We’re painting, updating furniture and some other finishes to give it a fresh look,” Ponzi said. “We’re gonna get back open as soon as we can. We’re improving some of the ductwork for airflow, so that takes some of the time up.”

In the meantime, St. Elmo’s coffee can be found down the street at its sister restaurant, Piece Out Del Ray at 2419 Mount Vernon Avenue, according to the flier below. A St. Elmo’s pop-up is planned there from 7 a.m.-1 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 7-11 a.m., Friday through Sunday.

Larry and Christine Ponzi bought St. Elmo’s from founder Nora Partlow in 2015. Seven years later, the couple opened two more St. Elmo’s locations in Old Town North and Fairlington.
