A French-inspired cafe with a growing presence in the D.C. area is hoping to open a location in Old Town as soon as next month.
Maman, which started construction at 701 King Street in September, is currently preparing to open in a 3,900-square-foot vacancy left by Foxtrot in spring 2024.
“As of now, the timing for the King Street location is December 2025,” a Maman representative told ALXnow.
The cafe, known for its lush, floral decor, offers brunch, pastries and menu items including eggs ratatouille and a smashed avocado tartine. A current collaboration with Martha Stewart also features baked goods like a rum butter bundt cake, “kitchen sink” cookies and caramel cream sugar buns.
Plans previously shared by the business call for the chain’s classic cafe-bakery setup, along with an “accessory event space” with seating for 30 guests indoors.
Maman has opened nine D.C.-area locations since announcing regional expansion plans three years ago. Most recently, the cafe debuted a new location in Arlington’s Courthouse neighborhood.
The Old Town cafe is landing among several nearby competitors, including Misha’s, Tatte, la Madeleine and Lily’s Coffee and Chocolate.
