Adoptable Pet of the Week: Phoenix, the ‘total cuddlebug’

Phoenix is a “super sweet, friendly and gentle” pup who loves running, playing fetch and settling in for a good cuddle.

The resident pooch at the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria is searching for a forever family to accompany on “woodsy weekend field trips,” according to an AWLA volunteer. She’s two years old, about 74 pounds and never seen without her “fanciest white dancing boots.”

In her online profile, the AWLA notes the cuddly canine can “quickly win everyone over with [her] affection nature and friendly personality.” She is full of energy and would make “a wonderful companion for someone who loves the outdoors.”

“But when playtime is over, I settle nicely and can be a total cuddlebug who enjoys spending quiet moments with my people,” her profile reads.

“Phoenix is ready to soar to her forever home!” AWLA wrote. “This big-hearted girl has lived happily with children, dogs, cats, and even a bird! Phoenix is a smart girl and would benefit from continued engagement in positive-reinforcement training in her new home.”

Phoenix can be visited during the shelter’s regular adoption hours.
