Spanberger, Gallego to rally Latino voters in Alexandria during statewide bus tour

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Abigail Spanberger and U.S. Sen. Ruben Gallego will headline a “Latinos for Spanberger” rally Thursday in Alexandria as part of Spanberger’s 11-day statewide bus tour ahead of Election Day.

The event is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 30 at a private location. Those interested in attending must register online to receive the address.

The Alexandria stop is part of Spanberger’s “Virginia Votes Blue Bus Tour,” which runs Oct. 25 through Nov. 4 and includes more than 40 stops across all 11 of Virginia’s congressional districts. Alexandria is one of four Northern Virginia stops scheduled for Oct. 30, along with events in Prince William County, Fairfax, and Manassas.

Spanberger, who has represented Virginia’s 7th Congressional District since 2019, is seeking to become the commonwealth’s next governor. The rally with Gallego, a Marine Corps veteran and Arizona’s junior senator, comes as campaigns intensify their outreach to key voter blocs in the final week before the Nov. 4 election.

The event falls during the final days of early voting in Alexandria. In-person early voting ends at 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Office of Voter Registration and Elections at 132 N. Royal St. and the Charles E. Beatley Jr. Central Library at 5005 Duke St.

As of Oct. 24, Alexandria had recorded 16,960 early votes — already two-thirds of the 25,475 total early ballots cast during the entire 2021 election cycle.

During her congressional tenure, Spanberger has emphasized her bipartisan record and constituent service. Her gubernatorial platform focuses on public education, public safety, economic opportunity and cost-of-living issues.

Spanberger faces Republican Winsome Earle-Sears, Virginia’s current lieutenant governor, in the gubernatorial race.
