City of Alexandria Pipes and Drums to close summer concert series Thursday

The City of Alexandria Pipes and Drums will perform the final concert of their summer series Thursday evening (August 7) at Market Square.

The free performance is scheduled for 7:45-8:30 p.m. in front of Alexandria City Hall (301 King St). The event is open to the public.

Thursday’s concert marks the conclusion of the city’s three-part summer concert series, which began June 5 and continued July 10. The ensemble has been performing traditional Scottish bagpipe and drum music for Alexandria audiences for more than 50 years.

Following the performance, audience members will have the opportunity to meet band members, take photographs, and learn about joining the musical group. The interactive element has become a hallmark of the summer series.

The concert series is presented by the Office of Historic Alexandria, which operates eight museums, historic sites, archives, and public programs throughout the city. The office aims to preserve Alexandria’s history while enhancing quality of life through community engagement initiatives.
