The Little Theatre of Alexandria opens “Kinky Boots” on Saturday (July 26), presenting the Tony Award-winning musical through Aug. 16.
The production features music and lyrics by Cyndi Lauper and book by Harvey Fierstein. Kevin Sockwell directs the show at the theater’s 600 Wolfe St. location.
Performances run Thursdays through Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Reserved seating tickets cost $36.
The musical follows Charlie Price, a young British man who returns home to save his family’s struggling shoe factory. He partners with drag queen Lola to produce specialty footwear for men.
Based on a true story, the show inspired the 2005 film starring Chiwetel Ejiofor and Joel Edgerton. The Broadway version won six Tony Awards in 2013, including the award for Best Musical.
Michael Page provides choreography, and Aimee Faulkner serves as music director. Amber Champ and Eleanore Tapscott produce.
The show runs approximately 2 hours, 30 minutes with intermission.
