HVAC issues force cancellation of Joint City Council / School Board Subcommittee Meeting

A joint meeting between the Alexandria City Council and School Board members scheduled for Monday evening was abruptly canceled due to mechanical problems at the ACPS Central Office building.

The City of Alexandria announced the cancellation Monday afternoon, citing “issues with the HVAC system” at the Alexandria City Public Schools headquarters where the 5 p.m. subcommittee meeting was set to take place.

The canceled session was expected to address several significant items, including recommendations for the city’s DASH bus system and next steps for the transit service. Also on the agenda were discussions about the school system’s Long-Range Educational Facilities Plan and matters related to collective bargaining.

City officials stated that a new meeting date will be announced once confirmed, although no timeline was provided for when the HVAC issues might be resolved or when the rescheduled meeting could take place.
