Governor Glenn Youngkin announced a new slate of board appointments to Virginia’s public universities on Friday (June 20), including several Alexandria residents who will serve on governing boards across the state’s higher education system.
The appointees from Alexandria are;
Daniel M. Gade, PhD, a retired Lieutenant Colonel from the U.S. Army and current CEO of InterFuze Corporation, was named to the Board of Visitors of Christopher Newport University.
Hillary Waldron, Senior Director of International Business Development at General Dynamics, was appointed to the Board of Visitors of the College of William & Mary.
The appointments also include Preston Cooper, Senior Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, who was named to the Board of Visitors of George Mason University.
Additionally, Garrett J. Exner, Executive Director of The Public Interest Fellowship and former Major in the United States Marines, was appointed to the Board of Visitors of Virginia Military Institute.
Finally, Vickie Schray, Principal and Founder of Vanguard Coaching and Consulting Services, was named to the Board of Visitors of Richard Bland College.
The appointments were part of a comprehensive announcement covering board positions across Virginia’s public university system, including institutions such as UVA, Virginia Tech, VCU, and James Madison University. Board of Visitors members typically serve four-year terms and are responsible for university governance, including oversight of academic programs, budgets, and institutional policies.
