Alexandria’s road work schedule for May 5-9 is out. It covers repaving, concrete maintenance, and ADA ramp improvements across the city.
This week, the citywide street repaving project targets South Royal Street, Slaters Lane, Boyle Street, Adams Avenue, Newton Street, and West Windsor Avenue.
Concrete maintenance, including ADA ramp upgrades and curb and gutter fixes, occurs in several spots. Work areas include the intersection of South Van Dorn Street and Eisenhower Avenue, Regency Place at North Pryor Street, and North Armistead Street.

The city says businesses and residents on streets set for repaving get advance notice, usually through project signs or letters. They’ll also put up temporary “No Parking” signs before work starts to help people avoid tickets and towing.
Keep in mind that the repaving list and schedule might change. Weather, equipment problems, or coordination with other city projects and utility work can affect the timeline.
Starting May 19, concrete maintenance will be performed on Duke Street from Roth Avenue to Wheeler Avenue. This work is preparation for future repaving. Expect lane closures and delays as crews work to finish the job safely and efficiently.
