The Alexandria Little League is ready to start the Spring 2025 season with a bang on Saturday, March 29 at Little Simpson Field (426 E. Monroe Avenue). Players should arrive by 10 a.m., with the parade and ceremony starting at 10:30 a.m.
The event promises plenty of excitement for players and families alike. There’ll be free donuts and coffee, a team parade, and high school alumni players giving on-field high-fives to the young athletes.
According to the league’s Instagram post, the day is packed with activities. Besides the parade and refreshments, players can pick up new equipment, buy league merchandise, and participate in a league photo. The ceremony will include the first softball and baseball pitches, as well as the inaugural hit off the tee.
The league is calling on families and fans to help make the day a success by volunteering for various tasks.
“We need help with small jobs like guiding teams during the parade line-up, handing out donuts, assisting at the equipment swap table, and welcoming people,” the league says. They assure volunteers that they won’t miss out on the main events.
Families looking to trade in old gear can swap equipment. Players can also get fitted for new equipment, and T-shirts, hats, and other Alexandria Little League merchandise will be for sale.
Anyone interested in helping can sign up through the league’s SignUpGenius page.
