Alexandria Mayor Alyia Gaskins has been named a 2025 Northern Virginia 40 Under 40 honoree.
The award, backed by Leadership Fairfax and Leadership Center of Arlington, spotlights up-and-coming leaders making waves in Northern Virginia.
“I am honored to be selected as one of the 2025 Northern Virginia 40 Under 40 honorees for my efforts to build a healthier, more prosperous Alexandria for all,” Gaskins shared with ALXnow on Thursday. “I am grateful for my colleagues who nominated me.”
The selection process focused on individuals showing exceptional leadership and making significant contributions both in their careers and communities, according to Leadership Center of Arlington’s website.
The City of Alexandria took to their social media accounts to celebrate the recognition, saying, “Congratulations to Alexandria Mayor Alyia Gaskins for being named a 2025 Northern Virginia 40 Under 40 Honoree! Honorees were selected for their remarkable leadership and contributions, both professionally and in their communities. Gaskins is excited about the opportunity to connect with her fellow honorees. “I look forward to meeting and working with the other honorees to advance creative and innovative solutions to help our region thrive,” she told ALXnow.
The organizers have planned a virtual celebration for April 8, 2025, at 11 a.m. Later that day, an in-person reception will be held at 4:30 p.m. at Fogo De Chao in Tysons, Va.
