Don’t miss ALXnow’s photos of Alexandria’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade

It was a picturesque day in Old Town for Alexandria’s 42nd annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

Temperatures were crisp in the 60s, as King Street near City Hall was awash in orange, green and white.

Thousands cheered the Irish pride of approximately 80 participating groups.

Tom Mooney, the owner of Murphy’s Grand Irish Pub (713 King Street), was this year’s parade marshal. Mooney and his wife, Melinda, sat in the reviewing stand next to Mayor Alyia Gaskins and other elected officials.

The event is produced by the Ballyshaners, an organization dedicated to the promotion of Irish heritage in Alexandria.

By the way, St. Patrick’s Day is on Monday, March 17.
