
D.C. news channel FOX5 is bringing its Zip Trip program to Alexandria’s Del Ray neighborhood on Friday.
Zip Trip is a program that tours locations around the region every Friday over the summer to highlight community activities and the people who make the town. The program is set to run from 7-11 a.m. near St. Elmo’s Coffee in Del Ray (2300 Mt Vernon Avenue).
“Good Day D.C. hosts Steve Chenevey, Marissa Mitchell, Chad Ricardo, Jacqueline Matter, and meteorologist Taylor Grenda will be in town for a few hours of fun Friday,” the release said. “Residents, neighbors, and kids of all ages who want to celebrate the history and spirit of Alexandria are encouraged to come and share hometown pride and have the chance to be on live TV!”

Taylor Tries it: Taylor Grenda will be participating in a cocktail making challenge at Del Ray Pop Up Bar. Fitness: The crew will be talking with Mind the Mat Pilates and Yoga and maybe even learn some relaxing moves. Talk of the Town: Alexandria’s Mayor Justin Wilson will be this week’s special guest. Biz Beat: The team will be talking with the people of Cheesetique about their cozy restaurant and wine bar. Taste of… series: Zuki Moon, LaBaik and Hi/Fi Tex-Mex BBQ will be the restaurants highlighted this week. Forever Home Friday: Forever Changed Animal Rescue will be talking with the team to hopefully entice people to adopt some furry friends! Pizza Making Competition: Del Ray Pizzeria will be helping the team (and possibly the crowd) in a friendly competition of who makes the best pizza. Performance: Alexandria City High School’s Cheerleading Team will be giving the audience a fun performance. Hometown Team: Alexandria Little League Team will be this week’s sports team guest. Junior Reporter: Xavier Dorsey, Alexandria Reporter for Scholastic Kids Press will be taking over for a short period.
