For a while, back when the pandemic had just gotten started, there was a rush on bikes.
In case you were one of those who didn’t get your bike at that time, here’s a new opportunity: the Velocity Bicycle Co-op (2111 Mount Vernon Avenue) is hosting one of its monthly sales next weekend.
The Del Ray-based cooperative is volunteer-run and offers education programs for the community. Velocity Bicycle Co-op has bicycle sales on the third Saturday of every month.
The next one is on Saturday, Aug. 19, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the warehouse behind 1502 Mount Vernon Avenue.
The sale offers as-is bikes, parts and accessories, with bicycles ranging from city bikes and beach cruisers to kids bikes and mountain bikes. The co-op also has trailers, car racks and more.
For those with a new bike, there’s some more good news: over the summer, Alexandria installed hundreds of new bicycle racks around Del Ray, Old Town, and other spots throughout the city.
Come and visit us at our Warehouse Monthly Bicycle Sale happening Aug 19th and every 3rd Saturday of the month from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm Our warehouse is located behind 1502 Mount Vernon Avenue (behind Al’s Steakhouse. Make sure to spot the Velocity flag). pic.twitter.com/o30G0HqqJM

Finding a gift for moms can be difficult. Google “Mother’s Day gifts,” and you’ll scroll through endless lists of beauty products, candles and fuzzy robes. Sure, those are sweet, but sometimes it’s fun to surprise loved ones with something a little more, well, practical!
Here’s one idea: Give her a gift certificate for a home cleaning from Well-Paid Maids. It’s the perfect “thank you,” “I love you” or “you’ve got this” for any mom. She can schedule the home cleaning at her convenience and breathe easy knowing she has one less thing to do.
Our cleaners will take care of everything, including vacuuming and mopping as well as cleaning and dusting countertops, tables, mirrors, appliances and more. Sinks, toilets, showers and appliance exteriors also get a good scrub.
Plus, when you buy a gift certificate from Well-Paid Maids, you’re supporting a living-wage cleaning company. That means cleaners get paid a starting wage of $24 an hour and get access to benefits, like 24 days of PTO and health insurance.
