Alexandria had another heist involving eyeglass frames on Saturday. This time, it was at an optometrist on King Street at S. Saint Asaph Street.
Around 1:10 p.m., a group of three males arrived at the optometrist offices in Old Town Alexandria. At least one of them was armed with pepper spray when they entered the shop to steal the frames.
Police described the suspects’ getaway vehicle in radio broadcasts as a silver Toyota Camry with dark tinted windows and Virginia temporary tags.
The D.C. area has had a rash of eyeglass frame heists in the past couple of months. This was at least the second in Alexandria. The previous one was in the West End on January 20.
The thieves are believed to be targeting eyeglasses due to their relatively small size and high resale value.
