Welcome back!

Jen Walker here with The Jen Walker Team! We are a real estate group based out of Alexandria. I, along with my two rock-star team members, Sue Kovalsky and Micki MacNaughton, have more than 35 years of experience in real estate and sold over $107 million in 2020.

Don’t miss this spectacular 3 bedroom 2.5 bathroom semi-detached home — over 1500 square feet — just a block and a half to the Avenue! The charming front porch greets you as you walk up to this gorgeous home. Enter into the large living room that features a wood-burning fireplace — spacious yet cozy, this space is great for movie or game night. This room flows easily into the large kitchen and dining room. Crisp white cabinetry and updated appliances can be found in the kitchen. The adjoining dining room is great for nightly dinners and can accommodate larger get-togethers — ideal for entertaining! A half bathroom, utility closet and coat closet round out this floor.

Back inside, head to the upper level where you will find two large bedrooms and a full bathroom. Doing laundry is a breeze with a spacious laundry room on this floor. One level up is a great third bedroom, a full bathroom and additional storage. Bright and airy, this space could also double as a fitness room or home office! Need outdoor space — head outside through the kitchen to the fully fenced yard. Enjoy BBQs or relaxing on the stone patio, tend to your vegetable garden and use the shed for extra storage — you will love this private space!

Loaded with updates to include new HVAC in 2018, stove and dishwasher in 2020, patio in 2018 and more. This move-in ready home is just what you’ve been waiting for. Park in the driveway and walk to all that Del Ray has to offer, plus enjoy close proximity to Amazon HQ2, Washington, D.C. and Old Town. You don’t want to miss this gem. Welcome home!

If you had a chance to enhance a child’s future with a time commitment of less than 2 hours a week, how would you respond? You have that opportunity right now to join over 200 Alexandrians as a reading tutor volunteer with the Alexandria Tutoring Consortium (ATC).

ATC tutors work with one child in kindergarten, first, or second grade in Alexandria public schools who need extra help with reading. Tutors meet with their Book Buddy 1-2 times each week for 30 minutes October-May at school, during school hours. Many struggling readers only receive one-on-one instruction through this program, and it makes all the difference. Last year, ATC served 195 children, of whom 82% ended the year reading on grade level and 96% made substantial reading gains. But the need is great, and we are still seeing learning lags from the pandemic.

This year, ATC plans to significantly increase the size of the program to reach over 250 students and to serve every elementary school in Alexandria. This is very exciting news, but we will only succeed if we can recruit more tutors. ATC trains you, matches you with a child, and provides ongoing lesson materials and support.
