Welcome Back!
Jen Walker here with The Jen Walker Team! We are a real estate group based out of Alexandria, Virginia. I, along with my two rock-star team members, Sue Kovalsky and Micki MacNaughton, have more than 35 years of experience in real estate and sold over $115 million in 2018.
Total new contract activity for the week of December 8-14 was down 3.4% compared to the same seven-day period last year for the six jurisdictions we track.
It was a mixed bag of results: only two areas posted increases in the number of newly ratified contracts. Montgomery County was up 7.3% and Northern Virginia rose just 1.3%. Two areas had modest decreases: Washington, D.C. was off 2.7% and Prince George’s County was down 3.1%. And two areas had fairly large drops, with Prince William down 19.3% and Loudoun County off 18.8%.
This week, we attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Potomac Yard Metro station. The new station is expected to bring billions of dollars of new private sector investment over the long term. It is also estimated to eventually support 26,000 new jobs and 13,000 new residents in the Potomac Yard area. This will lead to a vibrant future full of offices, housing and retail. The metro is expected to be completed in Spring of 2022. We’re looking forward to this addition to our Alexandria community!
