This week in real estate has stayed pretty consistent with the prior week, seeing only a 1.1% raise in the amount of ratified contracts. Montgomery County was at the top of the list with a significant spike in activity of 21.1%! With that, our median price point throughout the area increased to $582,000 compared to last week’s $450,000.
Are you struggling to find a home that suits your wants and needs? This could be due to the decrease of inventory in the Northern Virginia area. Just in the past year, we’ve seen the number of actively for sale homes drop around 26%. There could be many factors that contribute to this, but we believe that Amazon’s HQ2 announcement has had the most significant impact. We’ve seen a wave of investors and future HQ2 employees buying property in this area, which has been a very exciting experience!
Be cognizant of the lack of inventory in the Northern Virginia area when you’re searching the internet for potential future homes but know there are ways to get around this hurdle. Working with an experienced Realtor will bring you great ease as you navigate the housing market in the DC metro area. An experienced Realtor will have insight into the market that can benefit you tremendously such as “coming soon” properties!
