In celebration of Turkish Cuisine Week, Turkish Coffee Lady invites the public to experience a one-of-a-kind cultural event combining gastronomy, art, and heritage. From May 21 to May 27, the beloved boutique coffee house in Old Town Alexandria will host a special food art exhibition by world-renowned micro artist Hasan Kale, known as “Microangelo of Istanbul.”
This weeklong celebration highlights Türkiye’s rich culinary traditions and artistic legacy, offering visitors a sensory journey that bridges cultures—one cup and one canvas at a time. Rooted in over a thousand years of history, Turkish cuisine is a tapestry of stories, regions, and rituals—now shared with U.S. audiences through immersive cultural experiences.
A Sensory Journey Through Culture, Coffee & Culinary Art
Turkish Coffee Lady will transform its cultural café into an experiential hub of Turkish heritage through a diverse lineup of events:
-Special Food Art Exhibit by Hasan Kale (May 23rd – 7:30 pm) – Internationally acclaimed as the “Microangelo of Türkiye,” resident artist Hasan Kale will unveil a stunning collection of miniature food-inspired artworks. His intricate creations—painted on coffee beans, grains of rice, and spices—redefine the boundaries of culinary and visual art.
-Documentary Screening (May 25th – 7 pm) – A moving film journey exploring the regional depth, sustainability, and historical legacy of Turkish cuisine in 8 cities.
-Turkish Coffee Workshops – Dive into the UNESCO-recognized tradition of traditional Turkish coffee, learning about its cultural roots, preparation techniques, and symbolism in daily life.
-Coffee on Sand Demonstrations – Witness one of the oldest coffee brewing techniques in action, where hot sand meets heritage to create a truly immersive experience.
