Join fellow alumni for Tech on Tap in Alexandria! Cheng-Chia “Fred” Wu, an assistant professor with Virginia Tech’s Fralin Biomedical Research Institute, will discuss his research on the blood-brain barrier, a protective network of cells that shields the brain from harmful bacteria, viruses, and toxins, but which also prevents many beneficial drugs like chemotherapies from doing their job. Wu's work focuses on using low-intensity focused ultrasound to allow cancer treatments to reach brain tumors.
