Juneteenth Celebration at Historic Huntley

Join us for a free Juneteenth open house celebrating the 19th century emancipation of all formerly enslaved people as well as those enslaved by the family of Thomson Francis and Betsy Mason, original owners of Historic Huntley. Event activities include tours interpreting slave life at Historic Huntley (12:00, 12:20 and 2:00), special guest speakers, poetry reading by African American poet Karl Carter, musical interlude by the Woodlawn-Faith UMC Choir, document exhibits in the slave quarters, and refreshments. Overflow parking will be available at Woodlawn-Faith United Methodist Church and Groveton Elementary School. Historic Huntley is located at 6918 Harrison Lane, Alexandria.
