The Miracle League of Alexandria (MLA) is a group of private citizens who banded together to work to help develop outdoor recreational opportunities for Alexandria’s special needs community.
When the MLA formed, it wanted to make it a collaborative effort. They wanted to work with the City of Alexandria, the Kelley Cares Foundation (a sister charity helping the therapeutic recreation community), Alexandria City Public Schools Office of Inclusion and the private sector in a public/private partnership.
– Each year, over 1,000 players from the Miracle League and local sports programs use the Kelley Cares Miracle Field
– Over 40 Miracle League games are played each year, plus t-ball practices and games
– Each season, more than 300 volunteers and 250 families make the games possible
