Del Ray’s fifth annual Bands & Brews bar crawl set for Saturday

The Del Ray Business Association will host its fifth annual Bands & Brews summer bar crawl on Saturday, Aug. 16, from 12:30 to 6 p.m., featuring live music at more than 20 restaurants along Mount Vernon Avenue.

The event, sponsored by the Jen Walker Team, will benefit InspireLit, a local nonprofit that works to inspire a love of reading and promote literacy by increasing access to engaging books.

Advance tickets cost $20 and include drink and food specials at participating restaurants, live music at every venue, trolley transportation and giveaways. Tickets will be $25 at the door. The first 250 registrants will receive a swag bag, and the first 1,000 will get a 16-ounce souvenir collector’s cup.

Participants must be 21 years or older to participate in the bar crawl. However, children and families are welcome at family-friendly establishments and at the main stage at Pat Miller Square, located at 2312 Mount Vernon Ave.

Check-in begins at 12:30 p.m. at three locations: Northside10 at 10 E. Glebe Road, Hops N Shine at 3401 Mount Vernon Ave., or Lena’s Wood-Fired Pizza & Tap at 401 E. Braddock Road. Check-in continues until 3 p.m., with participants able to begin visiting other restaurants at 1 p.m. Late check-in is available at Pat Miller Square after 2:30 p.m.

Musical acts scheduled to perform include MAYSUNS, Marian Hunter, Squid Inc., George Katsos, Lo Ball, and Tennessee Frisky, among others.

According to the flyer, participating restaurants include Bella Napoli, Pork Barrel BBQ, Cheesetique, Junction Bakery & Bistro, Lena’s Wood-Fired Pizza, Los Tios Grill, Matt & Tony’s, Hops & Shine, and others.

Organizers note this is expected to be a high-volume event. Volunteers can participate free of charge.
