New ‘niche’ fragrance boutique plans Old Town debut, ribbon cutting next week

A new perfume boutique with an emphasis on niche fragrances is opening on Cameron Street in Old Town next week.

Arielle Shoshana will officially open its doors at 313 Cameron Street next Wednesday, Jan. 14, with a ribbon cutting scheduled at 5:30 p.m. Mayor Alyia Gaskins will be in attendance, the business announced this morning (Thursday).

“We can’t wait to welcome you to Arielle Shoshana’s new home,” the business announced in an email. “We’ll have heat by then, promise.”

Founder Arielle Shoshana Weinberg opened the boutique’s first location in Fairfax’s Mosaic District in 2015. She co-owns the business with Katri Haas.

A self-described “perfume playground,” Arielle Shoshana specializes in niche perfumes, giving customers the opportunity to explore “hundreds of thoughtfully curated fragrances, home fragrances, and body products,” according to its website.

The store also markets its own line of original fragrances inspired by the days of the week. Last week, its “Wednesday” perfume received online praise from drag queen and television host RuPaul.

In addition to the ribbon cutting, the store will host an official grand opening from 3-6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, offering guests “fragrance-inspired cocktails and mocktails,” according to an event description.
