Alexandria watch party set for ‘Neighborhood Favorites’ season two premiere

A watch party and fundraiser will celebrate the season two premiere of “Neighborhood Favorites with George Worrell” on Monday at Cooper Mill in Old Town Alexandria.

The event runs from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 10 Duke Street. Alexandria Mayor Alyia Gaskins will serve as special guest and deliver a welcome address.

The local public television program, presented by WHUT, spotlights small businesses, hidden gems, and local entrepreneurs across Washington and Alexandria. Season two delves into the food, fashion, culture, and community of the region through the people and places that define its neighborhoods.

Worrell, a Washington resident of 30 years, brings his background as an event planner and fashion stylist to the show. He owns George Worrell Style LLC, which specializes in workforce development and fashion consulting.

Season one featured locations including Union Market vendors, Binge Bar, a non-alcoholic establishment on H Street NE, Anacostia Organics cannabis dispensary, and Reddz Trading consignment shop in Georgetown.

The watch party will feature a promo reel of neighborhood favorites and a screening of the season premiere episode. The show debuts Oct. 6 at 8:30 p.m. on WHUT PBS and will stream on PBS Passport and Roku.

Viewers can also watch on pbs.org and the free PBS App, available on multiple platforms, including iPhone, Apple TV, Android devices, Amazon Fire TV, Samsung Smart TV, and Vizio. Local broadcast schedules are available on PBS station websites.
