Old Town Cocktail Week will run Sept. 25 through Oct. 6, featuring specialty cocktails at more than 40 restaurants and four curated events throughout Alexandria’s historic district.
Suntory Global Spirits presents the event in partnership with Captain Gregory’s. Participating restaurants will offer signature cocktails designed to highlight Alexandria’s cocktail scene, according to organizers. A complete list of participating restaurants was not available at press time. Organizers encourage checking captaingregorys.com/cocktailweek for updates.
Captain Gregory’s will offer their “Nectar Of The Gods” cocktail during the event. The restaurant is also featuring its “North Sea Menu” during Cocktail Week, highlighting Scotch and Aquavit from Scotland and Scandinavia.
The Art League will host “Art on the Rocks” on Sept. 25 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The event will feature more than 10 cocktails paired with artwork by local artists. Guests will vote on their preferred cocktail and food pairings while sampling snacks and small bites. Proceeds will benefit The Art League of Alexandria. Captain Gregory’s will feature a “Carbonated Rose Hip Negroni” during the event.
Captain Gregory’s will present “Nocturne” on Sept. 29, featuring modern, technical cocktails from the team behind the Nocturne concept. The event will include previews of upcoming cocktails and bites, with limited seating available.
A PLANTerAY Rum Dinner will take place Oct. 2 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Captain Gregory’s. The event will include a welcome cocktail and four-course tasting menu paired with Planteray rum varieties, including hard-to-find and limited release options. A Planteray representative will guide tastings and answer questions about rum production.
Captain Gregory’s will also host a collaboration with Ashtyn Harris from Press Club DC during Cocktail Week. The event will feature a four-course cocktail tasting with additional cocktails available a la carte and upscale bar bites. Press Club DC was recently nominated for Best New Bar North America.
Hotel AKA Alexandria will host “Taste of Alexandria” on Oct. 6 from 7 to 9 p.m. The event will feature Alexandria mixologists and chefs presenting a four-course cocktail pairing menu. Proceeds will benefit Project Black & Blue, which provides mental health support for hospitality workers.
Three hotels are offering packages for Cocktail Week visitors: Hotel AKA Alexandria, The Alexandrian and Hotel Heron. The packages combine accommodations with event access.
Old Town Cocktail Week follows Alexandria Oktoberfest on Sept. 27 at John Carlyle Square and precedes Old Town Oyster Week in mid-October.
Reservations are recommended for most events. Tickets are available through individual venues. Captain Gregory’s, located at 804 N. Henry St., is open Tuesday through Thursday from 5 to 10 p.m. and Friday through Saturday from 5 p.m. to midnight. The restaurant accepts reservations and walk-ins.
