Old Town Run Club to host charity fundraiser supporting 9/11 commemorative run

The Old Town Run Club is gearing up for a special Meet & Greet Charity Fundraiser that promises to blend community spirit with meaningful charitable giving. The event, scheduled for Saturday, July 26, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Union Street Public House, will support the club’s upcoming 9/11 commemorative run while bringing together runners and supporters for an evening of food, drinks, and connection.

The fundraiser will take place in the Whiskey Bar & Regatta Room at Union Street Public House, located at 121 S Union St in Alexandria. Admission includes food and beverages, making it an accessible way for community members to support a worthy cause.

This year’s event holds special significance as it supports the Old Town Run Club’s annual 9/11 commemorative run, which honors the memory of September 11th by connecting the three major 9/11 sites through community-driven athleticism and remembrance. All proceeds from the July fundraiser will benefit the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, an organization founded in memory of firefighter Stephen Siller.

“Our July event is more than just a gathering—it’s a chance to honor our heroes, support a vital cause, and build lasting connections in our community,” said Old Town Run Club organizers.

The Tunnel to Towers Foundation provides mortgage-free homes to Gold Star families and builds smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans. The foundation’s mission aligns closely with the commemorative run’s goals of honoring first responders, veterans, and Gold Star families through community support and athletic dedication.

The fundraiser offers attendees the opportunity to meet fellow runners and supporters, learn more about the upcoming 9/11 commemorative run, and discover ways to get involved with the club’s activities. With food and drinks included in admission, the event creates a relaxed atmosphere for networking and community building.

The Old Town Run Club welcomes runners, supporters, and anyone looking to make a difference in their community. The organization emphasizes that the event is open to all, regardless of running experience or club membership status.
