The Alexandria Choral Society is getting ready to hit the road for an exciting tour of Ireland and Scotland. Before they go, they’re putting on a special concert called “To the Road” on June 14, at 7 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (100 W Luray Ave.).
The concert’s lineup is inspired by their upcoming trip, featuring music from Mendelssohn, Tallis, Alice Parker, and Alexandria’s own B.E. Boykin. They’re also throwing in some traditional Irish and Scottish tunes for good measure.
While in Scotland, the group plans to perform in Dundee, the sister city of Alexandria, and at the iconic St. Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh.
“Get a first look at our exciting program before we perform internationally in Alexandria’s sister city of Dundee, Scotland, and at the historic St. Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh,” the Alexandria Choral Society shares in a press release. “Don’t miss this opportunity to experience the music that will accompany us on our grand adventure”!
Want to attend the send-off concert? Tickets are available on a pay-what-you-can basis, with a suggested price of $30.
The Alexandria Choral Society, founded in 1970, is celebrating its 55th anniversary in the 2024-2025 season.
