Alexandria cyclists have spoken, and Handy Bikes is their go-to bicycle shop.
In a recent ALXnow reader’s poll, the Wheeler Avenue store came out on top, snagging over half the votes.
The two-week voting period ended on April 28, 2025, with nearly 2,000 cyclists participating. Handy Bikes rode away with an impressive 54.6% of the votes.
You’ll find Handy Bikes at 3919 Wheeler Ave, where they offer everything a cyclist could need. From a full-service repair center to a showroom stocked with new and used bikes, accessories, and gear, they’ve got it all covered.
Trek Bicycle, with a location in “Alexandria North” and a location in “Alexandria South,” pedaled into second place with 36.2% of the votes. They’re known for servicing all bike brands and carrying top-notch cycling gear.
Big Wheel Bikes on Prince Street rounded out the top three, capturing 2.92% of the votes. They offer a mix of rentals, sales, repairs, and branded merchandise.
Other local favorites in the running included Velocity Bicycle Cooperative, Conte’s Bike Shop, Pedego Electric Bikes, Strictly Ebikes, and Unlimited Biking.
